Gospel choirs from four Texas schools will participate in Gospel Fest Saturday at Baylor. Baylor's Heavenly Voices Gospel Choir will welcome choirs from Texas A&M University, the University of North Texas, the University of Texas and Southern Methodist University. Gospel recording artist Ricky Dillard will be the guest clinician and performer.

'We'll leave around 11 a.m., and we'll be performing two songs,' said Charles Adams, a Texas A&M student.

Workshops open to the public are from 8 a.m. to noon in Waco Hall on matters such as ministry and music. The five choirs will then combine, and Dillard will teach them several songs for the evening's performance at 7 p.m. in Waco Hall. Each choir will perform, as will Dillard, before they sing together at the end.

Heavenly Voices Gospel Choir is entering its 13th year at Baylor. This year's Gospel Fest theme is 'Bringing down the walls of bondage: Making a joyful noise.'

'We do various things around the community such as singing at major events like the [Black Heritage Week] banquet Friday,' said president Casondra Brown, a Houston junior.

Tickets cost $10 at both the Bill Daniel Student Center and the door.
