Judge delays prof's trial; police academy to begin

Former professor's trial postponed

On Monday, Judge George Allen of the 54th District Court postponed Dr. Bruce Watson's trial in connection with 10 counts of possession of child pornography until April 30.

It was moved because the cases scheduled to come before Watson's case are likely to take more time than previously expected.

Marijuana paraphernalia found in Penland

Baylor Department of Public Safety officers arrested two students Sunday on charges of possession of marijuana paraphernalia. A small trace of marijuana was also found.

Car broken into

Unspecified equipment was stolen from a car at Baylor Landing late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

License plate stolen

A license plate was stolen from a 2-door Saturn that was parked in the lot next to Harrington House early Friday morning. Baylor Police have no suspects in the case.

Citizens police academy beginning

The Waco Police Department will hold its 20th Citizens Police Academy beginning Feb. 15 at 721 N. Fourth St. The program will be held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. every Thursday night for 12 weeks. It will include all aspects of the police department, including drug enforcement, SWAT, and building searches. The classes are free for anyone older than 17.
