Cross country teams will miss out on NCAA actionNov. 16, 1999
Neither Baylor cross country team will run in the 1999 NCAA Championships. After Saturday's south regional meet in Denton, both the men's and women's teams fell short of their preseason goal.
The Lady Bears, who came in second in 1998, just missed qualifying for this year's national race by one place. The team finished third behind senior Karin Ernstrom's third place overall finish. The Bears ended the day in 12th place out of 14 teams.
Pacing the men's team was senior Brandon Buhr's individual 31st place effort.
The south regional teams who advanced to nationals for the women were the University of Arkansas and the University of Texas. The top male finishers were Arkansas and Texas A&M University.
