The Lady Bear softball team won both of their games Thursday night defeating the Sam Houston State Lady Kats 2-0 and 3-1.

In the first game the Bears started out in the first inning with Michelle Sorells, an Edmond, Okla., sophomore, scoring off a hit by Misty Perry, a Irving sophomore, to give the Bears a 1-0 lead.

A miss handled ball by the third baseman gave Tori Birk, an Oklahoma City sophomore, the chance to make it 2-0 after she had stolen third base.

'We were pumped to play on our home field,' Perry said. 'We expected to beat them by more.'

In the second game Lyn Hill, a Coppell sophomore, made it 1-0 after she brought Perry home off a bunt. It was a hit from Carrie Arn, a Vancouver, Wash., freshman, into center field that brought Hill and Heather Williams, a Vancouver Wash., freshman, home and gave them the winning runs.

'It was very important that we win every regional game,' Assistant Coach Lori Reimer said. 'Regional wins determine our regional ranking.'

Lady Bear pitcher Stacey Allison, a Houston sophomore, pitched her first no hitter of the season and third of her career.
