The Waco Symphony Orchestra is presenting a free outdoor 'Pop 'N' Pep Concert' entitled 'Waco and Baylor: Together, We Can!' at 8:00 p.m., tonight, at Indian Springs Park.

The concert is among the festivities planned in an effort by the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce Big 12 Task Force to kick off Baylor's first Big 12 home football game this Saturday. Everyone is invited and encouraged to bring a picnic dinner.

The Waco Symphony, led by conductor Stephen Heyde, will play traditional sporting melodies and familiar favorites such as 'On the Street Where You Live,' 'Prince of Thieves,' 'Olympic Fanfare,' 'Chariots of Fire,' and 'Big 12 Medley.'

The Waco Symphony Association Executive Director, Susan Taylor, said the concert is a terrific way to celebrate Baylor's entrance into the Big 12.

'We worked in coalition with the Big 12 Task Force to make this thing happen,' Taylor said. 'Our main goal was to combine Baylor and Waco in celebration of playing in the Big 12.'

Taylor is also excited about the end of the show.

'There will be a few surprises at the end of the show,' Taylor said. 'We are hoping to have a few fun things to get everyone in the mood and spirit of the game.'
