Ready to Lead, Ready to Learn

KWBU coordinates Ready to Learn Workshops in the Central Texas community. These workshops help families, educators, and child care providers prepare children, ages birth to eight years, for educational success through the effective and appropriate use of quality resources, including those offered by the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and KWBU.

What is Ready To Learn?

Ready To Learn at KWBU encourages adults to extend a child's learning by linking concepts from PBS KIDS programs to reading, math, science, and other learning activities.

Components of KWBU's Ready To Learn service include:

  • PBS KIDS programming features quality, non-violent, non-commercial, educational children's television broadcast free of charge to every household in the viewing area. Super Why!, Sesame Street, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Word World , Arthur, and Cyberchase are some of the most popular, award-winning, and engaging children's programs available today.

  • Online Resources are available for early care and education providers and families.
    • KWBU Public Television: kwbu.org
    • PBS Parents: pbsparents.org
    • PBS Teachers: pbsteachers.org

  • Workshops assist parents, early care and education providers to teach children basic educational and social skills that will help them enter school ready to learn. At these workshops, free age appropriate books are distributed to support family literacy efforts for low-income families and early care and education providers in an effort to make books an important part of young children's lives.
