From the Top, the preeminent showcase for young musicians, comes to Baylor University 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 11, in the Jones Concert Hall to tape a radio broadcast in its 10th Anniversary Season. Presented by KWBU and Baylor University, the NPR broadcast taping hosted by acclaimed pianist Christopher O'Riley will feature the amazing performances and captivating personal stories of extraordinary young classical musicians from Texas and beyond.
On the broadcast taping, 16-year-old violinist and fiddling champ Mia Orosco, 16 from Lorena, TX will perform a fiddle piece along with cellist Nathanial Smith, 15 from Brandon, MS, who will also perform a solo. Also, 17-year-old organist Samuel Gaskin from College Station, TX will perform. Pianist Vijay Venkatesh, 18 from Laguna Niguel, CA, and violinist Yurie Mitsuhashi, 17 from Fort Lee, NJ, a recipient of From the Top's Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award, will perform.
General admission is $20, and tickets are on sale now in the Jones Concert Hall box office located in the Glennis McCrary Music Building. KWBU members, Baylor faculty/staff/students receive a $5 discount. All box office purchases are cash or check only; credit card purchases must be made online. Box office hours are 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
