Students

The Baylor Department of Journalism offers plenty of diverse opportunities for students to gain professional skills by getting involved both in and out of the classroom. Students can take advantage of campus publications such as The Baylor Lariat or Focus Magazine, or they can choose from five different student and national organizations the department sponsors.

Students are constantly being immersed in the world of journalism. From feature stories to design layouts, students are inspired to communicate, report, publicize, edit, shoot, design and produce stories for the media that are relevant to modern journalism and the field of communications.

Classroom activities keep journalism students on their toes as they develop practical skills for the workplace like building résumés and creating portfolios. Students acquire even more real-world experience through internships available throughout the local area, across the nation, and around the world.
