Welcome to the Center for Jewish Studies. We offer a unique academic program of conferences, lectures, and classes, as well as containing its own library collection.

Our staff includes the Founding Director, Professor Marc Ellis, who is also Baylor's University Professor of Jewish Studies. The Administrative Associate, Rochelle Peters, is also the Center's Conference Coordinator and overall director of the Center's operations. She is assisted by the indefatigable Katarzyna Plazinska, Professor Ellis' student assistant.

As part of its mission, the Center has hosted international conferences on the Jewish theologian Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel and the Jewish philosopher Hannah Arendt. In September 2011, the Center will host a major international gathering to reflect Biblically and theologically on the 10th anniversary of September 11th and the 5th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina."

The Center is pleased to have welcomed such important contemporary Jewish luminaries as Professor Susannah Heschel, Rabbi Elliot Dorff and Rabbi Lynn Gottlieb, and featured such keynote speakers as Father Gustavo Gutierrez, Professor Rosemary Radford Ruether, and Reverend Dr. Allan Boesak.

Our hope is that by bringing people together from diverse faith backgrounds we can enhance our own faith journeys. We hope that you will join us!
