Elluminate Live!, a new system introduced by the Electronic Library this fall, offers professors and students an easy-to-use, Web-conferencing tool for making presentations, delivering course content and collaborating online without telephone connections, announced Sandy Bennett, program manager for online teaching support and development.
Students, staff and faculty may use the application through the communication page in Blackboard. The system includes two-way audio, chat, shared whiteboards, breakout rooms, built-in graphic calculator and application sharing. Those having webcams may use the video capabilities. “I think we will see many creative uses for this exciting, new tool in the academic environment here at Baylor,” Bennett said.
This state-of-the-art software extends the current collaboration tools in Blackboard. It can accommodate 45 people at a time in one or in multiple conferences. Students will only be able to use it through Blackboard, but professors may set up long-distance webinars by contacting Bennett or John Lowe in the Electronic Library.
