From the Dean
Most days in the Baylor University Libraries are exciting, but these days are just a lot more exciting than usual. After conducting a national search for a vice president for information technology and dean of libraries, President Lilley announced the appointment of Pattie Orr to fill this important position at the university. Presently, Ms. Orr is director of user services and the policy and planning officer in the information services division at Wellesley College. She assumes her duties at Baylor effective June 1.
A native Texan, Pattie is looking forward to returning to her home state. She also is impressed by the "commitments to excellence" outlined in Baylor 2012. As vice president and dean, Orr will lead an extensive, university-wide information technology organization that provides administrative and academic technology services, technology infrastructure, library services and support for digital assets. The fall issue of this publication will carry a much more in-depth article on Pattie Orr. You will not want to miss it.
Finally, I want to thank members of the library faculty and staff, including our very important student workers, for their support during this time of transition. It has been my distinct honor and privilege to serve with you as we sought to move the libraries forward. Pattie knows what an outstanding group of colleagues she is coming to work with and lead. Godspeed.
Interim Dean of Libraries
