From the VP/Dean
This is my first column for Access as the new VP for Information Technology/Dean of Libraries. I am fortunate to have accepted a position where my love of students and the learning process is shared by so many dedicated faculty and staff. Baylor University is a remarkable institution with great traditions and great teachers. I am deeply committed to doing my part to provide the tools, resources, programs and facilities to make you more successful in and outside of the classroom and laboratory.
Quality service and a caring staff are keys to a successful organization, and I believe we have both here in the Libraries and in ITS. They are here to help you with whatever your needs may be. I believe you will find them an invaluable resource.
I know our beautiful campus is vast, and meeting everyone is difficult with our schedules and responsibilities. However, I would like to invite you to drop by to see me in my office in the Moody library. You can now use the Garden Level Entrance in the Gregory Garden for easier access to the Administrative Suite, our Digital Media Studio, computing facility and Java City. If you would like to set an appointment, please contact my office at x3200. And, feel free to send me an e-mail with any questions, concerns or needs you might have.
Finally, I would like to encourage you to attend our annual Ferguson-Clark Lecture on November 8 in Waco Hall at 7 p.m. This year, our speaker will be Dr. Ronan Tynan, noted Irish tenor, author, paralympian and inspirational speaker. All proceeds from this event will be used to build an enhanced high-tech learning center in Moody Library. Our students use this facility heavily throughout the year. We are looking forward to a great turn-out for the lecture so we can all contribute to our students' academic success.
