Baylor University’s Cable TVs agreement with Grande Communications is expiring in June 2017. Baylor was notified that, at the conclusion of the contract, Grande would require conversion to an all-digital lineup, as they are requiring for the entire Waco area market.

During the evening hours, we experienced unforeseen significant disruptions in our datacenter systems. ITS staff worked throughout the night to address the issues, which have required restarting of many university technology services. While most systems are now operational, Banner (BearWeb) and Trax are not yet stable. Also, some other lingering issues may be uncovered.

Responsibility for all mobile device services, including smartphones, other cellular devices and data plans for iPads, have been moved to ITS Client Services. All other telephone services (office phones, VoIP, voicemail system, etc.) will remain with the Telephone Services area of ITS. New information about these services has been added under the “Networking and Telephone” category on the ITS website.

Baylor Public Relations senior Andrea Gaul remembers sitting in a journalism class during her freshman year. A guest speaker was presenting, and as she scrambled to take notes Gaul noticed the speaker kept emphasizing a specific point.

“Her presentation was all about networking with Baylor graduates,” Gaul said. “As a new journalism student that nearly sent me into a panic because I didn’t know anyone who had ever gone through the journalism program here.”

Three years later, Gaul has extended her network to include Baylor alumni and beyond.

Successful Phishing attempts have impacted over 150 Baylor students, faculty and staff just this past week. Continued vigilance is needed by the Baylor community to recognize and delete any email message that looks phishy.

On Thursday, April 20th, from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., maintenance will be performed on the campus network switches in certain areas of campus.

We have seen an unusually high volume of phishing attempts in the past few days. We are actively working to block these emails from being delivered to Baylor email accounts, but different versions of these messages often still get distributed.

On Tuesday, February 28, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. in the foyer of Moody Memorial Library, the Baylor Libraries, KWBU 103.3FM and the Baylor Bookstore will host "SHOUT! Black Gospel Music Moments" - a celebration in honor of Black History Month and the KWBU listening community.
