Conficker VirusApril 3, 2009
Recently, there have been several news releases regarding the Conficker virus that was supposed to activate on April 1. Symantec refers to the virus as Downadup, but is most commonly referred to as Conficker.D. ITS installed a Microsoft security patch, MS08-067, on all Baylor-owned computers that protects them from being infected on the Baylor network.
Conficker is known to block access to over 100 anti-virus and security websites. If you would like to check your Baylor computer to verify that it does not have the virus, we have posted a Conficker Eye Chart on the following ITS website: http://www.baylor.edu/its/security/conficker/ . This eye chart represents a test page that has been developed so you can determine if your computer is infected. If you can see all six images in both rows of the top table on the Eye chart, you are most likely not infected by Conficker. If the computer does not display all the images, please contact the ITS Help Desk at 254 710-4357.
