Baylor University's central information system for services to students, faculty, staff, and alumni is the SunGard Banner software. This software includes SunGard's self service web system, which Baylor has implemented as "BearWeb". A major upgrade to version 7 of these systems will occur Fall Break Weekend, Oct. 13 -15.

Regularly implementing new releases of Banner is important to the University. It allows Baylor to utilize SunGard's on-going enhancements, which include regulatory upgrades for government compliance in significant components of the system.
Banner 7 introduces significant technology and user interface improvements. However, the new Banner "look and feel" is very intuitive for those already familiar with Banner 6.
The primary technology improvement with Banner 7 is that it runs in a web browser. This simplifies installation and also allows for easier access from remote locations. The web browsers supported for running Banner 7 are Internet Explorer
