Apple has released OS X Mavericks (10.9) today, October 22. Testing of the new operating system with key applications and University systems by ITS will be done before installing it on campus.
Some required software applications, such as PGP and Symantec Endpoint Protection, have already been reported to have issues with Mac OS X 10.9. It is customary for vendors to have 30 to 60 days to fully support their products upon release of a new operating system.
While OS X Mavericks is available for free, ITS asks that upgrades to University-owned systems be coordinated through the HELP desk. As previously stated, once the upgrade is fully tested and supported by ITS, it will be included on new installations. If you have justification for needing this upgrade on your existing system and your computer will not be replaced this fiscal year, you may request an upgrade by contacting the Help Desk.
