Update on Email Issues 03/15/12

Status Update at 2:00 PM 3/15/2012

The issues encountered as a result of the planned email outage on Monday evening, March 12, have been corrected and stabilized. No email messages were lost during the outage.

For some mobile devices, users may need to make adjustments in order to connect to Baylor email:

• Android users will need to update their server name setting to legacy.baylor.edu in order to synchronize their Android device email with their Baylor Exchange email account.

• iPhone or iPad users running a version of iOS prior to 4.3.2 will need to upgrade their operating system.

• iPhone users that cannot upgrade to a version of iOS of at least 4.3.2 will need to update their server name setting to legacy.baylor.edu.

• Other mobile devices experiencing connection issues will need to update their server name to legacy.baylor.edu.

ITS staff members have worked diligently throughout the week with Microsoft support to determine the extent of the problems and to remedy them. The changes required for the mobile devices noted above are a result of incompatibilities between certain mobile operating systems and the newer Exchange 2010 mail system.
