Sept. 10, 2008

Media contact: Lori Fogleman, director of media communications, (254) 710-6275

As Texans prepare for the arrival of Hurricane Ike along the Texas coast, Baylor University officials are closely monitoring the storm and any possible impact it might have on the Central Texas area.

As of Wednesday, Sept. 10, there are no plans to close the university or to cancel any weekend events. However, Baylor officials have been meeting to plan for any disruption to normal campus operations or major events, such as Saturday's football game between Baylor and Washington State at Floyd Casey Stadium in Waco. The game is set to kick off at 11:30 a.m. CT.

Updated information regarding campus operations or events will be communicated tomorrow to all students, faculty, staff, alumni and parents.

In addition, all announcements will be posted on a special web site that has been established to disseminate news and information. That web site may be found at

Baylor encourages students, faculty, staff, parents and alumni to check this site frequently for the latest information.
