Conferences

• Baylor Symposium on Faith and Culture
• Medical Ethics Conference
• Pruit Memorial Symposium
• Art & Soul
• Other Conferences

As part of our contribution to Baylor University and the larger academic community, the Institute for Faith and Learning coordinates a wide variety of conferences. Though oriented toward different audiences, all of our conferences feature Christian intellectual life as expressed in the gravitas and vitality of orthodox Christian tradition, as shaped by ecumenically principled dialogue, and as relevant to significant and timely questions in academe and the wider culture. IFL has been honored to support several conference series:

Baylor Symposium on Faith and Culture

IFL's newest conference series seeks to address any significant person, problem, text, or question, and to do so in a way that constructively appropriates Christian faith and intellect in relation to the selected topic. The inaugural installment of the Baylor Symposium on Faith and Culture was held in Fall 2007.

Pruit Memorial Symposium

An endowed series bringing the perspectives of Christian intellectual traditions to bear on issues of enduring, contemporary, and interdisciplinary concern. IFL directed the Pruit Memorial Symposium from 1998-2005; click here for a list of links to archived information about past conferences during that time. Beginning in 2007, the Pruit Memorial Symposium will be directly administered by Baylor's Provost. The Institute for Faith and Learning will continue its fall conference efforts with a new series entitled the Baylor Symposium on Faith and Culture (details above).

Art & Soul Festival

Held from 2000-2005, Art & Soul was a conference series in the arts and humanities that explored the intersection of religion and the arts through performance, exhibition, informal dialogues and scholarly inquiry.

Medical Ethics Conference

A forum for health care professionals and ethicists seeking to fulfill their vocation knowledgeably, faithfully, and morally, and featuring national experts in health care ethics credentialed in law, medicine, philosophy, and theology. After launching this series in 2005, the Institute for Faith and Learning is pleased to continue providing administrative support for this annual event now under the leadership of Baylor's Center for Christian Ethics.

Other Conferences

Occasionally, the Institute for Faith and Learning sponsors or provides administrative support for other conferences that do not fall within an ongoing series. Follow the above link to find learn more about such conferences.
