Preston Yancey, Sophomore
Preston Yancey is a sophomore in the Honors Residential College, participating in both the Honors and Great Texts programs. Preston is a Great Texts Major with a focus on medieval literature, in particular the works of Marie de France. He is also a double minor in Latin (Ovid and medieval writings focus) and Political Science (East Asian foreign and domestic relations focus). His present area of research is centered on Marie de France's Lais and he has recently finished co-authoring a chapter on the French poetess with Dr. SJ Murray for a forthcoming book on French female authors and the spiritual. He plans to continue study in this area, working on future joint projects with Dr. Murray focusing on the Lais and his own forthcoming work on examining the teenage soap program Gossip Girl through the lens of the medieval corpus. Outside of his academic interests, Preston is working on the completion of his novel, presently titled The Sunset of Molly Blount, as well as many other pursuits. He also serves as an Associate Minister at North Waco Baptist Church and is interested in extending the blessings that so many Baylor students have given to the impoverished and hurting people of Waco through the redemptive and life-changing power of Christ. He can typically be found drinking something caffeinated.
