VACANCY NO: S009390 POSITION TITLE: Dean for Student Learning and Engagement DEPARTMENT NAME: Student Learning and Engagement PURPOSE: This position specifically supports the mission by provides visionary leadership and strategic direction for the development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive living and learning environment comprised of residential living facilities, programs, and services; new student programs; and an academy for leader development and civic engagement. Reporting to the Vice President for Student Life, the Dean for Student Learning and Engagement serves as a senior-level member of a division dedicated to enriching the Baylor experience through life-changing programs and services resulting in an integrated education known for leadership, service, Christian faith, and the total development of students.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Dean provides leadership to and support for 47 full-time employees and approximately 200 student staff members in the following departments: Campus Living and Learning, New Student Programs, and The Academy for Leader Development and Civic Engagement. The Dean manages a budget of $21.8 million. A significant part of this position's responsibilities is the oversight for the residential campus that houses 4,700 students and includes 2 Residential Colleges, 6 Living-Learning Centers (Air Force ROTC, Engineering and Computer Science, Entrepreneurship, Global Communities, Leadership, Outdoor Adventure), and 3 Engaged Learning Groups.
QUALIFICATIONS: Baylor seeks energetic, collaborative, and visionary applicants with outstanding accomplishments in senior-level administration and a strong commitment to the values of diversity and human compassion. VACANCY NO: S008252 POSITION TITLE: Stable Isotope Mass Spectrometry Technician DEPARTMENT NAME: Geology PURPOSE: This position specifically supports the mission of the University by managing the new stable isotope mass spectrometry laboratory at Baylor University.
QUALIFICATIONS: A Ph.D. in Geology or Geochemistry is required at the time of appointment. The Department seeks an individual with a strong background in applications of stable isotope mass spectrometry to geological systems, who will manage a new laboratory containing a Thermo-Electron Delta V Advantage isotope ratio mass spectrometer with the following peripherals: Gas Bench II, combustion EA, TCEA, and a dual inlet. The instrumentation specialist is expected to support ongoing research programs that include geology, biology and environmental sciences. The position carries appointment as 90% staff and 10% research scientist, and we especially encourage collaboration with Geology faculty and students currently engaged in research focusing on terrestrial paleoclimatology. The successful candidate should also be capable of managing use of the instrument by faculty and students, be able to instruct new users, and conduct routine maintenance and repairs, assisted by a Baylor Sciences Building instrumentation Specialist.
