POSITION: Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Spanish

QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D., native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English, proven excellence in teaching, and demonstrable commitment to research and publication. Experience in a Spanish-speaking country preferred. The successful candidate will aim to help students achieve greater understanding of the Spanish-speaking world as well as oral proficiency in Spanish. The Department prefers a candidate with demonstrated ability to contribute to curricular innovation, to bridge periods or genres, and/or to engage in interdisciplinary teaching and research.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach primarily undergraduate and some graduate courses in Spanish. Candidates for tenure-track positions must demonstrate a defined research agenda or promise of substantial research and publications.

RANK AND SALARY: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.

POSITION: Regular Lecturer in Swahili (non tenure-track position)

QUALIFICATIONS: M.A., native or near-native proficiency in Swahili and English, and proven excellence in undergraduate teaching. Experience in a Swahili-speaking country preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES: To teach elementary and intermediate Swahili language courses. The successful candidate will be expected to provide leadership in extracurricular activities for students and to participate in other service activities as assigned.
