Compa Ratio for Individual - the ratio of the individual’s pay (numerator) to the midpoint for the pay range (denominator). Compa-ratios are used to measure and monitor an individual or group’s actual rate of pay to the midpoint of control point of their range. A compa-ratio can be calculated for a group, a department or an entire organization. A Compa-Ratio of 1.00 or 100% means you are paid exactly what the industry average pays and are at the midpoint of the pay range, while a ratio of 0.75 means you are paid 25% below the average

Desk Title – descriptive title of an individual within a PCLS. (e.g., PCLS Title: Administrative Associate, Desk Title: Administrative Associate for Human Resources).
EEO Codes – are defined by the EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) for required reporting. EEO codes are grouped together by similar skills sets and various job families
ECLS (Employment Classification) – benefit classification assign to individual positions: Executive Management, Staff Executive, Staff Monthly, Full Time Bi-weekly, and Part Time Bi-Weekly
FLSA Status - determines if a position qualified for overtime (Non-exempt / Bi-Weekly Paid) or does not qualify for overtime (Exempt / Monthly Paid)
FTE (Full Time Equivalents) - is a way to measure the scheduled hours of the incumbent. Ratio of total number of paid hours during a period (part time, full time, contracted) by the number of working hours in that period, usually 40 hours
FTE Annualized Rate – adjusted income or pay for an incumbent to on a full time annual basis. For a part time incumbent the pay will be calculated as a full time employee. Full time employees’ FTE annualized rate will be the same as their annual pay
Grant Funded Profile – is a general description of functions, and responsibilities for typical grant funded positions
Hourly Rate – the rate of pay per hour for a job being performed
Job Family – PCLS grouped into job families that are similar in nature (task and activity), however have different skills and levels of responsibilities. (Example: Accounting and Finance, Information Technology, Public Safety, etc…)
Job Profile – is a general description of functions, and responsibilities for typical university funded positions
Market Value – the “going rate” for a benchmark or slotted position, and is used to assign positions to a pay band
PAQ (Position Analysis Questionnaire) – is a document used in BearQuest to evaluate positions. When a position is approved within BearQuest, the PAQ transfers over into the job description database.
Pay Range – a range of pay rates, ranging from minimum to maximum, established for a pay band
Pay Band – the band to which a position is assigned to and consist of a pay range
Pay Band Minimum - the entry pay level for a position, that is typically close to the entry comparable market pay for meeting the minimum qualifications of a position assigned to the pay band
Pay Band Mid-Point – the pay level that represents the middle of a pay band; typically the value is close to the comparable median market pay for positions assigned to the pay band
Pay Band Maximum - the highest pay level for a position assigned to the pay band; typically the maximum rate is a reflection of the maximum market pay for positions assigned to a pay band.
PCLS or P-Class (Position Classification Number) – for internal administration purposes, jobs are grouped together and are similar either in requirements, skills, responsibility level, benefits and /or EEOC classification. Several PCLS that at are similar in nature are grouped into a Job Family
PCLS Title – descriptive title for PCLS
POSN (Position Number) – unique identifier for positions, to which individuals are assigned
Position Report Group – The name of the department, as referenced on the HR Compensation Data report
