In recent years, the Honors College has hosted a long list of impressive speakers, including Leon Kass (Former Chair of the President Bush's Council on Bioethics), Dana Gioia (Former Chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts), Alan Jacobs (English professor and public intellectual), Richard Wilbur (Poet Laureate), George Weigel (biographer of Pope John Paul II), Dr. Ted Baehr (The Christian Film and Television Commission), Andrew Delbanco (Melville Scholar and cultural critic), Dr. Ray Corrin (World Health Organization), Giorgio Filippi (Director of Excavations, St. Paul's Tomb, St. Paul Outside the Walls), and contemporary artist Makoto Fujimura.
