Baylor Launches New Homecoming Web Site

July 1, 2005

One of Baylor's oldest traditions now has a new home on the Internet. An upgraded Homecoming web site premiered June 30, bringing a new look, several enhanced features and information about changes for Homecoming 2005, scheduled for Oct. 26-30 on the Baylor campus.

Homecoming on the Web

The new site represents many weeks of planning, writing and designing by the Baylor Chamber of Commerce and the Baylor Alumni Association. The site is managed through Baylor's Content Management System (CMS) with assistance from ITS Internet Services, and is available at http://www.baylor.edu/homecoming.

Visitors can order tickets online, review an enhanced schedule of events, and plan their visit with links to area hotels, restaurants and more. The new site also features online merchandise ordering for Homecoming shirts and sweatshirts.

"The new Homecoming site is a great resource for alumni, students, and others looking for the latest information on the variety of events held during Homecoming Week," said Ian Gibson, chairperson for Homecoming 2005 from the Baylor Chamber. "We are excited about our plans for this year's event and that we now have the ability to provide online Homecoming merchandise orders for the Baylor family."

Other areas of the new site include a review of previous Homecoming celebrations as well as a section dedicated to the many traditions associated with Homecoming, such as the parade, bonfire and the many reunions that take place as alumni return to Baylor.

"Homecoming is Baylor's most precious tradition, and this new web site is a great way for our alumni to stay connected to the tradition they experienced during their time at Baylor," said Jeff Kilgore, executive vice president of the Baylor Alumni Association. "We see this web site as a one-stop shop for information about Homecoming, both for this year and for years to come."

Homecoming 2005 Changes

For 2005, the Homecoming Bonfire and Pep Rally will be held in the area behind the Ferrell Center. The event will include inflatables and games in addition to the traditional bonfire. More information about this and other events for Homecoming 2005 is available online at http://www.baylor.edu/homecoming.
