Registration overview

After you have completed your local fair, you will need to register your advancing student projects. Due to complications with the new NHD registration system, the regional fair will be utilizing a Google Doc form for 2017.

Teachers and students register online for the Heart of Texas Regional History Fair during the open registration period. Registration will open on January 1, 2017 and close at 11:59pm on February 3, 2017. If you need assistance with the Google Doc registration form, please call the HOTRHF office at (254) 710-3783 or e-mail our office.

The registration form can be accessed here.

Teachers will need to register their students using the Google Doc.

Please ensure that the information provided to your teacher for use in filling out the permission form is correct.

Category-Specific Information:

Historical Papers: Four (4) print copies of each entry and a PDF file are due in the HOTRHF office no later than January 27. Historical papers are judged during the month before the February 23-24 history fair. Click here for information about campus delivery.

Websites: The NHD Weebly portal will issue a unique 8-digit website URL for each website. The unique 8-digit URL is necessary for website registration. All Web site entries must be finalized and submitted no later than January 27. At that time students' access to their Web projects will be closed until after February 26. Web sites are judged during the month before the February 23-24 history fair. IMPORTANT NOTE: URL submission at the time the project is entered on-line WILL NOT block student access from their project between Jan. 1 and Feb. 3, however it will enable HOTRHF to check to be sure the link is in working order for judge access.

Documentaries: More information about technology playback options will be made available at the close of registration. We are working hard to provide the technology that will be user-friendly for all entries.

► ► ► Entry fee: $6 PER STUDENT

More registration information:

  • In a change from previous years, there will not be a self-nomination process for Special Awards. The HOTRHF office, board, and judges will determine the eligibility of each project. Please note that descriptive titles will aid in this process.
  • Scholarship applications are available here. One application per school per award is allowed.
  • Many teachers inquire about how many students may be brought to the regional competition. This graphic explains the maximum number you may bring:

  • If your student advances past regional competition, you will be instructed on how to register for the next level using the same entry you created for the regional level.
