Response to Haiti Earthquake

It is anticipated that a number of Baylor offices and organizations will be involved in responding to the disaster in Haiti. This web site will be used to communicate information about those activities and responses.


Christian author, speaker Shane Claiborne to visit Baylor February 28
One of the most sought after young speakers in America, Shane Claiborne, will speak at 7 p.m. on Sunday, February 28 in the Barfield Drawing Room at the Bill and Vera Daniel Student Union Building (SUB). Cost of admission is $5, with all proceeds benefiting Mission Waco's work in expanding a health clinic in Haiti.

Baylor Students Providing Multiple Ways to Help Haiti
Baylor University students are organizing several ways the campus can help the people of Haiti and all those affected by the recent earthquake -- from Student Government collecting donations for immediate relief to the journalism department asking students to "Give the Shirt Off Your Back."

Baylor School Of Music To Perform 'Concert for Haiti'
Faculty and students of the Baylor University School of Music will present a concert to benefit the victims of the Haitian earthquake at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, in Jones Concert Hall of the Glennis McCrary Music Building on the Baylor campus.

Hope for Haiti Benefit Jan. 29 Features Baylor Profs
Three professors and one staffer at Baylor University are pooling their musical talents to benefit immediate relief efforts in Haiti. Their band, After Midnight, will perform from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, at Lake Shore Baptist Church, 5801 Bishop in Waco.

Baylor Chamber's Apparel Sale for Haiti
In an effort to assist those who have been impacted by the recent earthquake in Haiti, The Baylor University Chamber of Commerce will be holding an "Apparel Sale for Haiti" in the SUB on Wednesday, January 27 from noon until 3pm. The sale will include apparel and merchandise from Homecoming, Parents Weekend, and Diadeloso events from previous years with all proceeds going directly to earthquake victims. Student Government Response to Haiti Tragedy
Please join me in prayer during this very difficult time for the nation of Haiti and all those affected by the recent tragedy. The most immediate help we can be to the people of Haiti is through constant prayer. Pray not just over the next few days and weeks, but for the coming months and years as the nation rebuilds. Pray for those in the Baylor and Waco communities who have family or friends there and the relief workers who are on the ground assisting in the aftermath.

Prayer Service for the People of Haiti Tonight at Truett Seminary
The university will hold a prayer service for Haiti for all Baylor faculty, staff, students and the Waco community at 5:30 p.m. today (Thursday, Jan. 14) in the Paul Powell Chapel at Truett Seminary.
