Join the Golden Wave BandStep One: Contact UsContact the Director by filling out the Information Request Form. You will receive a reply and your specific questions will be directed to the appropriate staff member. Your information will be added to our Prospective Member Database, you will receive a letter and a phone call from us in the spring semester. If you are a senior and have been accepted to Baylor, plan to visit our recruiting table during your summer orientation in June and July. There, we will provide more information about joining the band and schedule your audition.
Step Two: Audition for the bandAuditions take place in conjuction with your two-day summer orientation. When you arrive on campus for orientation, please visit our table to sign up for an audition time. The audition will take place on the second day between 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM. If you are unable to audition at this time, other arrangements can be made. Audition requirements can be found HERE.
Step Three: Register for BandYou may register in one of two ways. If you are new to Baylor, you will see an advisor on the second day or your summer orientation session in June. During this session, you will plan your class schedule according to your major. Tell the advisor that you wish to add marching band to your schedule (MUS 0102). If you wish to receive credit, enroll in Section 01. You may also visit BearWeb and add the class (MUS 0102) to your schedule.
Often, students have small time conflicts in which a course overlaps with a small portion of rehearsal. In order to allow you to participate in band, we have added Section 02 which has a time TBA. This allows for you to enroll in marching band and the conflicting class. Notify the director in case of a time conflict.
If you wish to receive credit, you must register for either Section 01 or 02. Section EA (audit) is for those who have already fulfilled their HP credit requirements and wish to continue in marching band without receiving the one-hour credit.
Note: You may register for band even though you have not completed your audition.
After you have registered for classes and have received your Bear ID and Password, fill out our online Student Information Form. This will allow us to pre-order your shoes and t-shirt as well as prepare for your arrival at band week.
Step Four: Early Move-In and Band WeekIn July, you may visit the Members Only section of our website. You need a Bear ID and Password to view the information. There you will find information specific to band week and your move in day. You will also receive a letter from the band containing information related to the start of the season.
Band Week begins one week prior to the first day of class.
