Dissertation Writing Lab
The Baylor University Graduate School is proud to offer the Dissertation Writing Lab for advanced doctoral students. The weeklong event is designed to help students develop productive writing habits while making significant progress on their dissertation. Participants must have an approved prospectus and must be far enough along in their projects to devote a full week to writing; the Dissertation Lab is not designed to accommodate extended periods of library research or data collection. The event is open to all doctoral candidates, but only 20 spots are available.
Dates and Time: May 20-24, 8:30am to 5:30pm
Location: Moody Library, Prichard Commons
Daily Schedule:
The schedule is intended to offer extended periods of writing punctuated by opportunities for motivation and feedback from select faculty and fellow participants.
Each morning will begin with the group gathering to hear faculty members share tips, tricks, and words of wisdom about the writing process and a short time for spiritual reflection. Writers will have access to large tables, power outlets, AirBear, and printers. Students will work from laptop computers and may reserve a library owned computer for the week, if needed. Lunch, provided by the Graduate School, will give participants time for informal conversation about their projects, problems, and progress as well as provide an opportunity to mentally reset for the afternoon. In the middle of each afternoon, students will meet in small groups with a faculty member who will help them talk generally about their projects and the writing process. These times are designed to help you work through particular issues you are facing and provide encouragement and perspective about your work.

To Register:
- Complete the Registration Form
- Request a short email of support from your dissertation advisor
- Submit a $50 security deposit. This deposit will hold each registrant's spot in the Dissertation Lab and will be returned in full upon completion of the program. Please submit your deposit to Rachel Whitenton in the Graduate School (Morrison Hall, Suite 200) within three days of submitting the registration form.
