Describe your background briefly.

I graduated as summa cum laude from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, ranked number one for the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Human Sciences and became the first college graduate of my family. I wanted to attend a university that could continue to provide an education with a personal touch and connect with a program that would provide endless opportunities for me to expand my intellectual growth. As I begin my search, I ran across the Environmental Science program at Baylor. I made many phone calls to Dr. Bratton and Dr. Brooks, which allowed me to become aware of not only the outstanding program they had, but also the impressive professors at hand. They gave me personal attention, guidance and much insight for the brightest future I could ever have all by attending this program and before I even arrived on campus!

Explain what's special about Baylor and Baylor graduate education?

I feel that the most unique quality about Baylor's education is the loving, Christian environment that it possesses. Its graduate education is the same, but as a graduate student I can say that it provides a little more in the sense that it allows
the graduate students to become very bonded and close-knit
within itself, while the professors push us to higher heights in
our education.

Discuss accessibility, professionalism and scholarship of professors and mentors

The professors are always accessible, either by walk-in or appointments. The neat thing is that you can always ask them about anything ranging from assignments to career opportunities to personal guidance. Mentoring is very important and these professors are very prepared for it, especially when they are in touch with employers of whom you can network.

Plans after graduation?

At this point, I hope to extend my master's to a doctorate degree with the new doctorate's program (TIEEES). My other options are to either attend law school with an emphasis in environmental law or work for USGS, EPA, or an environmental consulting firm.

Would you recommend this program to others?

I would most definitely recommend this program to any student who is even slightly interested in the environment and how we affect it.
