PhD Religion
PhD Religion

Why did you choose Baylor?
I was drawn to the collaboration I saw taking place in the religion department among the students, and the ecumenicity I saw among their backgrounds. There were a number of interests from a number of backgrounds which promised to make for vibrant discussions and work.
What did you find unique about Baylor?
The commitment to the church in the religion department sets its graduate studies apart from other departments, in that intellectual excellence and ecclesial commitments are not divorced, but part of the same whole.
What are your research interests?
Christian thought on war and peace in the 20th century and ecclesiology. I'm currently working on an article in collaboration with one of my professors, and have co-edited a book, coming out in 2010, with another professor. Additionally, Baylor has brought me into contact with a number of top-notch people in my field of Theology that I wouldn't have met otherwise.
How was your experience with the faculty?
The graduate faculty are extremely congenial and willing to work with students. They are actively publishing in their respective fields and great mentors to future scholars.
Explain the Baylor community.
Waco's an extremely accessible town, without lacking for cultural life. I love being able to get from one side of town to the other in 15 minutes! The department community is extremely congenial and supportive of one another.
Why would you recommend the program?
The quality of both the faculty and the courses is fantastic, and the congeniality of the department only fosters that quality.
