MS Student Affairs Administration
MS Student Affairs Administration

Describe your background briefly and what brought you to Baylor.
After graduating from Geneva College with a degree in Student Ministry, I served at Gettysburg College as an Associate Chaplain for five years. After five years of working on a campus, I realized that my voice was limited by my lack of formal education. Baylor became our new home in the end because of the warmth of the program, the programs willingness to work with my family to find a home, and the distinctive of being both connected to faith and academically rigorous.
Describe your research interests and/or research opportunities at Baylor.
Best practices of collegiate outdoor adventure programs: I have personally experienced the transforming nature of spending time in the wilderness. I would like to investigate common traits of outdoor programs that are well connected to institutional mission and that contribute significantly to a student's experience.
Discuss accessibility, professionalism, scholarship of professors and mentors.
The faculty members of the Student Affairs Administration program have helped me to see my professional potential. They have asked the difficult questions of calling and responsibility. They have provided the challenge necessary to discover the potential within.
Why would you recommend this program to others?
Many programs focus on either Higher Education (administration) or Student Affairs (student development). Baylor's program strikes a tension between the two traditional approaches leading to a well-rounded individual. I recommend this program to students who seek a middle road.
Any surprises since you've been at Baylor?
Summer lasts through November!
