PhD Philosophy
PhD Philosophy

Why did you choose Baylor?
I had interests in both philosophy and law; I was accepted into Baylor's Philosophy Graduate Program before I could apply to law school. I am fascinated by the fundamental questions of life, the universe, and everything!
What did you find unique about Baylor?
I know that people often say things like "Baylor was perfect for me," but in my case it is really true. I cannot imagine a more supportive environment than I have enjoyed over the past five years.
What were your research interests?
I have benefited tremendously from the travel awards that are granted both by the Department of Philosophy and the Graduate School. I have traveled to numerous philosophical conferences all over the country to present my work. I have enjoyed the opportunity to have my work in philosophy commented on several times by very respected senior scholars. To me, this is the best part of going to conferences. And I would not have had the opportunity to do this if not for Baylor!
What are your thoughts on the Baylor community?
It is safe to say that I have grown closer to my colleagues in the Department of Philosophy than I have even to my church family. And that's not a negative commentary on my church. It's a positive commentary on the caring and nurturing character of the life of the department.
What are your plans after graduation?
I mentioned that I had interests in law before coming to Baylor to study philosophy. In the fall I am beginning study for a Juris Doctorate in my home state, at the Bowen School of Law at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Who says you have to stop at one doctoral degree!?
