PhD Curriculum & Instruction
PhD Curriculum & Instruction

Describe your background briefly and what brought you to Baylor.
I received a bachelor's degree in Education from Baylor in 2001. Since then, I have earned a master's degree, a principal's certificate, and a superintendent's certificate from other universities and programs. I heard great things about Baylor's doctoral program for Educational Curriculum and Instruction.
Explain what's special/unique about Baylor and/or Baylor graduate education.
Baylor's graduate program for educators consists of teacher, specialists, principals, and central office personnel. It is great to have a variety of perspectives in the same room while attending my classes. That is very helpful in my field.
Describe your research interests and/or research opportunities at Baylor.
I am currently working on a dissertation that addresses reading programs and student learning activities in public schools. I am also assessing the usage of the RTI (Response to Intervention) process in classrooms and auxiliary learning environments.
Discuss accessibility, professionalism, scholarship of professors and mentors.
Dr. Conaway has been a great support and mentor during my program at Baylor. She is always helpful and informative regarding my coursework, direction, and planning. I would recommend her as an advisor to any incoming Baylor student.
Describe what you've liked about being part of the Baylor, Waco and department community.
I live in Hewitt, and I work in Midway ISD as a school administrator. Waco is a great place to live. The community is very practical for families who have small children. Baylor has been very accommodating with regards to my current life situation.
Plans after graduation?
I would love to open a new campus someday as a campus principal. I also have aspirations to be a Superintendent of Schools.
