PhD Educational Psychology
PhD Educational Psychology

Why did you choose Baylor?
I searched long and hard for a PhD program that would allow me to focus on my interest in Autism Spectrum Disorders. It was not until I visited with the Ed. Psyc. Department at Baylor that I realized my school was right in my back yard. I immediately began application and have not looked back!
What did you find unique about Baylor?
I have developed a great relationship with my cohort. I heard about cohorts before but never truly understood the value of it. My cohort is small including folks from many walks of life. They are very important to me and keep me focused.
What are your research interests?
I am primarily interested in Autism and how children with autism function in public schools. I have had the opportunity to work with Drs. Julie Ivey and Lucy Bernard on a few articles regarding autism. Not only have I been able to focus on my interest, but I have also improved my writing abilities and style.
Describe your experience with the faculty.
Any time I need to talk to one of my professors they have been available. Many times we discuss issues via email which is very convenient. Other times we meet face to face. In any event, my questions are always answered.
What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation plans are on a moving target which I consider a blessing. My degree will open many doors for me to consider. I plan to keep focused on my interest areas and walk through doors God opens and wait to see what will come my way.
Explain why you would recommend this program?
The flexibility of my program and the encouragement from my professors are invaluable.
