Transcripts from Foreign Universities

ETS - PPI

If you are an international applicant, or attended a foreign university, please note:

  • An official transcript or degree certificate is verification of your academic record, issued in the original language from the Registrar or official record keeping office of that institution.

  • Official documents must arrive at Baylor University in the original unopened envelope as issued by the originating institution, with an institutional stamp or signature on the closed envelope flap.

  • Official transcripts or degree certificates issued in languages other than English must be translated into English and submitted to Baylor University along with the original official documents.
    • An official translation is a precise English translation of your academic documents that has been prepared by the issuing institution or a professional translator.
    • If you know that you need a translation of a transcript or degree certificate and you do not have the original copy for the translation agency to use, request two official documents from the issuing institution: one for the translation agency, the other to satisfy Baylor University's official document requirement.

  • Many international schools issue only one original transcript or degree certificate. Please do not submit your original copy to Baylor University. Instead, request that the issuing institution attest a copy of the document.
    • To request an attested document, send a photocopy (never the original) of the document to the institution that originally issued it. They will verify the photocopy against their records, place the institutional stamp or seal on the photocopy (thereby attesting to its accuracy), put the attested copy in an institutional envelope, and affix their stamp or seal over the envelope closure. The issuing institution can mail the attested copy directly to Baylor University Graduate Admissions.

  • Institutions in many countries do not include degree information on their transcripts, but issue separate degree certificates for this purpose. Examples include (but are not limited to) institutions in China, India, and Latin America. If your transcripts do not include degree information, you should also submit official degree certificates.

  • Should you desire to have your transcripts evaluated by a professional credential evaluation service, we recommend using an agency recognized by The National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, such as the ones listed below. Having your transcripts evaluated by one of these agencies does not fulfill our regular official transcript requirement.
