Dr. Lyon led the opening prayer.
The Council considered a recommendation from the Curriculum Committee regarding revisions in the Master of Science in Education with a major in Student Service Administration. One course in their curriculum would been revised, four new three hour courses would be developed, six new one hour seminars would be developed, and seven courses from the current program would be dropped. These revisions are necessary to bring the degree in line with standard offerings in Student Services Programs nationally.

With the changes in the Baylor Student Life area, the Student Service Administration program can tie their curriculum with the experience.
- The Council unanimously approved these revisions, which will now be added to the Graduate Catalog.

Tillman Rodabough tied this recommendation to the recently completed Needs Assessment and explained that currently enrolled students may choose to graduate with either the Applied Sociology Ph.D. or the Sociology Ph.D.

The Council unanimously approved this change in name. The recommendation will now be forwarded to the Provost.
- The document which describes the duties and responsibilities for the graduate program directors is near completion and should go to the Council of Deans for their next meeting.
- Dr. Linda Livingstone has been named the Dean of the School of Business at Pepperdine University. Dr. Lyon expressed appreciation for Dr. Livingstone's work with graduate students. Gary Carini has been named as the new graduate director in the Hankamer School of Business.
- Calvin Smith, director of the Museum Studies Department gave an report on the current construction of the new museum complex that is being built on University Parks Drive. Dr. Lyon complimented Director Smith for his untiring efforts to make this vision a reality.
- A flyer was distributed which announced the Campus-Wide Dance on May 3 in the Barfield Drawing Room. The Honors Program is one of the sponsors of the event. Dr. Lyon asked the Council members to post the flyer in their departments.
- Also, a flyer was distributed regarding the National Graduate Christian Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Todd Lake will be taking a group of Baylor students to the conference which will be held December 28, 2002 through January 2, 2003.
