Social Events

We understand that social interaction is essential to the life of the graduate student, and it is an area that can become atrophied under the constraints of study and research. The Community provides monthly social activities to facilitate building new relationships between neighbors, and we encourage our members to bring friends to the events.
Summer BBQ
A great opportunity to catch up with neighbors or friends after the summer hiatus, and to meet new residents at the Quad. The annual BBQ is the first community event of the year, as we enjoy hot dogs, hamburgers, and veggie burgers around the pool.
Game Night
A night of games, food, and fun. We get together as a community to play board games provided by the community. Some of the past favorites include Settlers of Catan, Taboo, Ticket to Ride, Monopoly, varieties of card games, and many more.
Dinner and a Movie Night
Take a break and enjoy catering from a favorite local restaurant while watching a classic movie. Past movies include Some Like it Hot, Casablanca, The Odd Couple.
International Pot Luck Dinner
The Graduate Student Housing Community enjoys housing many international students. The potluck is an opportunity to try a variety of international fares.
Chili Cook-off
Try your cooking skills! Make your best chili and compete, or just bring your appetite along and sample your neighbors' cooking. Prizes awarded for the winners.
Community Pumpkin Carving
Get in the Halloween spirit by carving your scariest Jack-o'-lantern. A panel of faculty judges award prizes to the top three contenders, including a discount on the following month's rent.
