Exemptions
(If your specific department is not listed below and you are in your first semester of teaching, you are required to take five SET seminars)
Exempt due to the nature of courses or labs taught:-
TORs who teach activity courses (HHPR) skill courses (Music) or science labs under the direction of a lead instructor will not be required to participate in this program.
Departments or Students who are exempt from SET:
Health Human Performance and Recreation
Music – TORs who teach a 1 credit hour Applied Music class
Science Labs – TORs who teach/proctor a laboratory attached to a lecture course taught by a professor who is a teacher of record

TORs who participate in a departmental teaching seminar of at least one credit hour may be exempt when the department annually documents with the Graduate School the syllabus, times offered, and the names of students who complete the program.

EDA 6302 is a doctoral seminar on teaching in higher education. Students will explore curricular issues, course development and content, teaching techniques, learning concepts and theories, and the nature of faculty work.
Prerequisite: Doctoral standing.
