Student presenters from 5 Texas universities (Texas A&M, Baylor, Texas Tech, Tarleton State, and Sam Houston State University) were judged by a panel of reviewers. The Baylor student participants were: Justin Von Bargen (MS), Zack Valdez (PhD), Todd Longbottom (PhD), Greg Rouze (BS), and Nick Cestari (BS). Von Bargen was awarded 3rd Place in the student competition, for his presentation entitled "Charcoal Chemistry: A novel proxy for establishing paleofire regimes."
