Research in the Department of Geosciences includes a wide range of topics and disciplines in Earth Sciences including Biogeosciences, Energy Geosciences, Paleoclimate, Solid Earth and Planetary Sciences, Surface and Hydrological Processes, and Lithospheric Processes.
Undergraduate Programs
The Department of Geosciences has three undergraduate programs: Majors in Geology, Geophysics, and Earth Science, minors in Geology and Earth Science, and a secondary major in Geology.

The Department of Geosciences presents an O.T. Hayward Distinguished lecture by Dr. Kerri Donaldson Hanna on "Robotically exploring silicic volcanoes from the surface of the Moon" at the Baylor Sciences Building, Room D.109 on Tuesday, April 9th at 11:15 am.
Alumnus Dr. Don Parker recently published a map of the Muerto Caldera, which is in the Sawtooth syenite complex and part of Mt. Livermore in the Davis Mountains of West Texas. Much of the map is based upon the thesis mapping of Baylor alumnus Steve M. Hoy, who, regrettably passed away in 2016. The map is dedicated to him.
