But when Baylor students and recent graduates do think of alumni associations, they're often thinking of the Baylor Alumni Network -- not the proudly independent, 154-year-old Baylor Alumni Association that has warred with previous Baylor administrations and regents over everything from threats of fundamentalism taking over Baylor to concerns about skyrocketing tuition costs -- the latter now being partially addressed by Baylor President Ken Starr through his successful $100 million scholarship fund drive.

However, one column published Sunday, written by former Texas House representative Stan Schlueter, was not thoughtful in its presentation and certainly was not civil.
