FCS 1313 Drafting I
Architectural drafting techniques, practices and standards are introduced for both residential and nonresidential environments. The student will complete a set of working drawings for a residential project with emphasis on interior detail. (2,4)
FCS 1332 Fundamentals of Interior Design
Elements and principles of design as applied to residential and nonresidential interior environments. Fundamentals of programming, human factors, structural and environmental systems, properties and application of interior materials, sustainability, and components of style. Emphasis on the concept of universal design. (3,2)
FCS 2310 Textile Science
The structure and performance of fabrics; examination of fibers, yarns, fabrication finishes and the processes used to enhance the aesthetics and functional aspects of the fabrics. (2,2)
Prerequisite(s): CHE 1405.
FCS 2314 Drafting II
Technical and free hand methods for one and two point perspective explored. Kitchen and bath space planning, elevation and sectional detail and dimensioning, and free hand sketching skills promoted and enhanced. Drafting standards and practices for accessibility introduced. (2,4)

FCS 2315 Building Systems and Codes for Interiors
Structural systems, methods of construction, current trends in building materials, installation methods, mechanical systems, environmental concerns, and laws, building codes, and ordinances as related to interior environments. (3,0)
Prerequisite(s): FCS 1332 and 2314 (or concurrent enrollment).
FCS 2316 Interior Design Presentation Studio
Visual presentation techniques to include perspective, sketching, and rendering in various graphic and design mediums. (0,6)

FCS 2320 Materials and Finishes for Interior Environments
General analysis, quality control measures, and specification of interior materials and finishes related to interior environments. Includes textile characteristics, advanced color theory and application, testing standards and specifications, and cultural influences for a global market. (3,3)

FCS 3198 Internship Seminar
The study and evaluation of the interior design profession in today's market. Professional etiquette related to resumes, letters of application, and interviewing skills. Portfolio

antiquity to 1850. (3,0)
FCS 3317 Lighting for Interior Environments
Technical and psychological aspects of the illumination of interior environments that support human performance, aesthetic appeal, and the health, safety, and welfare of the user. (3,0)

FCS 3318 ID Studio I: Residential Design
Application of design components for residential environments. Development of the design process with emphasis on research and programming, human factors, lifestyle concerns, environmental issues, and consideration of cultural, regional, and geographic influences as related to the design of interiors. Specification and budget requirements for furnishings, materials/finishes, and decorative elements. Team-based design solutions incorporated.(0,6)
Prerequisite(s): FCS 2310, 2315, 2316, 2320, and credit or concurrent enrollment in FCS 3317 and/or 3319. FCS 3313 and 4313 preferred. FCS 2310, 2315, 2316, 2320, and credit or concurrent enrollment in FCS 3317 and/or 3319. FCS 3313 and 4313 recommended.

FCS 3319 Computer Aided Drafting and Design for Interiors
Emphasis on a broad range of computer techniques for interior design as specified by industry standards. (2,4)
Prerequisite(s): FCS 2314 and ISY 1305.
FCS 3326 ID Studio II: Contract Design I
Application of design components for small-scale commercial projects, with strong emphasis on research, programming, conceptual development, creative problem solving, building codes, and ADA compliance. Estimation, specification, and applications of materials/finishes, and lighting applications for commercial interiors. Various design specializations addressed. Team-based design solutions incorporated. (0,6)
Prerequisite(s): FCS 3317, 3318 and credit or concurrent enrollment in FCS 3319 and ART 1316.
FCS 4313 Historical Design II
Survey of architecture, interiors, furnishings, and the decorative arts from 1850 to present. Strong emphasis on 20th century masters. (3,0)

FCS 4318 ID Studio III: Contact Design II
Application of design components for large-scale commercial projects, with increased emphasis on thorough research and programming, conceptual development, creative problem solving, application of building codes, and ADA compliance. Estimation, specification, and application of material/finishes, and lighting applications for commercial interiors. Various design specializations addressed. Team-based design solutions incorporated. (0,6)

FCS 4333 ID Studio IV: Business Practices and Procedures for ID/Capstone Studio
Business practices and procedures, ethics, project coordination, licensure, and legal aspects related to the interior design profession. Senior Capstone Project. Final portfolio presentation. (2,4)

FCS 4398 Interior Design Field Experience
Supervised field experience in an approved design related work environment. Minimum of 240 hours. Prerequisite(s): FCS 3198, 3319, and 3326.
