    Background:

I came to university teaching after many years of practice as a counselor, parent educator, and parent education/family support program manager. I try to integrate this experience into working with students at Baylor, using "real-life" examples and situations to help students understand the concepts and theories which we discuss. My research focus and passion for military family well-being, coping, and resilience grew out of my experiences as a military spouse, and now, the mother of active duty soldiers. It is my goal to, in any way possible, be a resource for Baylor students who plan to work with individuals and families.

    • FCS 3356 Theories of Family Development

    • FCS 4V93 Family Life Education and Ethics

    Teaching Interests:

I love working with students, so enjoy teaching just about anything in my area. However, I particularly love teaching Family Transitions, Stress and Resilience, Theories of Family Development, and Family Life Education and Ethics. I am passionate about the application of research to practice, so enjoy opportunities to translate that research into everyday language easily understood and applied by students and practitioners.

    • Military family well-being, coping, and resilience

    • Parenting and parent education

    • The Impact of deployment on the family-system
