Parker Design Center
The Parker Design Center houses CAD laboratories for both the fashion design
and interior design programs on the first level and a resource and drafting
lab for interior design students on the second level. The center is located
in a small, two-story colonial house next to Collins Residence Hall on the
corner of Baylor Avenue and 8th Street. Prior to the 1990's the house served
as the home management facility for classes related to household
responsibilities. The facility was given the name Parker Design Center when
the department received a sizable contribution from the parents of fashion
design graduate, Jo Ellen Parker, for the purchase of new computers and
software to train students on the latest apparel industry computer
applications including pattern and graphic design.
Today, both fashion and interior design students occupy discipline specific
CAD facilities located on the first level. Fashion design and fashion
merchandising classes are offered utilizing software applications such as
NedGraphics Fashion Studio, Corel Painter, Corel Designer, and Pattern
Design. Interior design students use AutoCAD and industry standard programs.
Resource area, product library, and drafting facilities for interior design
students are located on the second level. The center is available to
students on a 24-hour basis.
