Taize Prayer Service TuesdaySept. 24, 2013
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
The Office of Spiritual Life will be offering a Taizé Prayer Service Tuesday from 11:30 am-12:00 pm, and from 12:35 pm to 1:05 pm in the Spiritual Life Center Chapel.
Taizé is a monastery in southern France whose simple chant-like approach to singing and prayer has impacted Christian worship around the world. The experience is contemplative in nature as scripture is sung and sung until the "singing becomes serene" as the brothers at Taizé express it. Those of you who have experienced it know just how powerful and peaceful it can be.
The service will be led by Dr. Burt Burleson, University Chaplain, and Carlos Colón, Coordinator of Worship Initiatives and a Resident Scholar at the Institute for Studies of Religion. Baylor Elizabeth Herbert, a senior Baylor student, will also assist playing the oboe.
