Summer dining, fun, fitness

Things may be different on campus during the summer, but that doesn't mean you don't have access to fun and fitness as you attend summer classes. Here you will find summer hours of operation for dining, the McLane Student Life Center, the Pullin Family Marina, and the Game Room at the Bill & Vara Daniel Student Union Building.

Dining

The Penland Crossroads, the McMullen-Connally Faculty Center, and several retail dining locations will be available for the summer. This means East Village Commons, 1845 at Memorial and Brooks dining facilities will be closed for the entire summer.

    Penland Crossroads

    Breakfast: 7 a.m.-9 a.m. (not served on Sundays)

    Lunch: M-F: 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday: 10:45 a.m.-3 p.m., Sunday: 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

    Dinner: M-F: 5 p.m.-7:30 p.m., Saturday: 5 p.m.-7 p.m., Sunday: 4:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.


    McMullen-Connally Faculty Center

    Lunch: M-F: 11 a.m.-2 p.m. (closed Saturday and Sunday)

McLane Student Life Center (SLC)

Normal summer operating hours begin May 30 as the SLC is open Monday thru Friday 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m.-8 p.m., and Sunday 1 p.m-8 p.m. Check Campus Recreation’s Hours of Operation calendar for weekend and holiday hours.

    Courts

    The four SLC courts are ready for basketball or volleyball use, and there’s always room to play racquetball or wallyball on one of the seven racquetball courts available all summer. Call 710-SLIC (7542) to reserve a court, or simply stop in. Equipment provided free of charge.


    Pool

    The climate-controlled Harold R. and Ann Cunningham Natatorium is open to all Baylor students, faculty and staff.


    The lap pool is open 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. The whole pool, water slide, and vortex pool are available from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.


    Rock Wall

    The 53’, free-standing, rock wall will be open for climbing enthusiasts of all levels from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., and the Bouldering Cave offers new and experienced climbers the opportunity to try new moves while remaining close to the ground.


    May 30 also begins the SLC family hours. Family members of Baylor faculty and staff are welcome to use the facilities during all normal operating hours, and may bring up to five guests for a nominal fee (see the SLC website for guest policies and fees).


    Fitness classes begin again the first week of Summer Session 1, and run through August. Check the Fitness page for registration and class times.

Pullin Family Marina

Normal summer operating hours for the Marina begin May 30. Kayak, canoe, and stand-up paddleboards are available for rental seven days a week from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., along with equipment for beach volleyball and slackline use. Outdoor Recreation will also offer Sailing lessons (sailboat included) for those interested in learning how to sail the Brazos. Call 710-3531 to schedule a lesson.

The Bike Shop at the Marina is available to individuals who have a need to repair their own bikes. Tools and workspace are FREE; some equipment is available for purchase. Call 710-3531 for more information.

Game Room at the Bill & Vara Daniel Student Union Building

The Game Room will operate 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday thru Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The Game Room is closed on Sundays.
