Ongoing Construction on East Campus To Temporarily Close Parking Lots, Portions of Speight Avenue and Third StreetMay 8, 2012
Due to continuing construction on the east side of the Baylor campus, crews will close two parking lots and portions of Speight Avenue and Third Street on Monday, May 14. The parking lots and streets are scheduled to reopen Aug. 13 before the fall semester begins.
- Portions of Lot 50, which services the Goebel Building and Russell Gym, and the parking lot behind Goebel and Russell will be closed. Lot 42 by the Sid Richardson Building, which closed in March, will remain unavailable during the summer.
- Third Street will be closed to through traffic from Baylor Avenue (on the west side of Moody Library) to Speight Avenue, while Speight will be closed to through traffic between Guittard Avenue and the entrance to Lot 50 off of Speight.
- During June and July, the remaining homes in the Fort Faculty area will be vacated and demolished. Crews will install additional fencing and barricades in and around Fort Faculty to allow for continued work in this area.
These closures - which are required in order for work to be safely performed in these areas - will allow crews to continue the installation of new utilities from the Baylor Energy Complex to the under-construction East Village Residential Community, relocate existing utilities and begin new construction to extend and re-align Third Street from Moody Library to Bagby Avenue.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
