Countries with greater workforce equality have higher murder rates, a new international Baylor study suggests. While greater gender equality does not cause an increase in homicides, the results indicate a definite correspondence, according to the study, presented at the American Sociological Association’s meeting in Chicago. Quoted is researcher Katie Corcoran, Ph.D., who says that men may “perceive women’s increasing economic attainment as directly threatening.” Corcoran is a fellow in Baylor's Institute for Studies of Religion and associate professor of sociology and anthropology at West Virginia University. Board of Regents Announces Outside Counsel

WACO, Texas (Sept. 2, 2015) – Baylor University’s Board of Regents announced today that they have retained the services of the Philadelphia law firm Pepper Hamilton LLP, to conduct a thorough and independent external investigation into the university’s handling of cases of alleged sexual violence. The investigation will be led by partners Gina Maisto Smith and Leslie Gomez, well-recognized experts in the institutional response to all aspects of sexual misconduct matters.

Baylor to Debut New Television Commercial Sept. 4

WACO, Texas (Aug. 31, 2015) – Baylor University will debut its new television commercial during Friday’s nationally televised football game between Baylor and SMU. The featured game on ESPN, the Bears and Mustangs will kick off at 6 p.m. at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas.
