McMullen Chef Showcase: Mindful Eating Made Easy

The McMullen-Connally Faculty Center will host Jill Hamilton for Chef Showcase from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21 promoting a menu emphasizing lower sodium and heart healthy fats.

Spring faculty meeting Thursday

The spring faculty meeting will be held on Thursday, January 15 at 3:30 p.m. in Roxy Grove Hall, where newly appointed executive vice president and provost, Dr. Ed Trevatham, will be introduced.

Pick Your Mix breakfast treats available at East Village Bakery

Baylor Dining Services has received several appeals and feedback to develop a special faculty and staff request. Therefore, starting January 12 the East Village Bakery will be offering a "Pick Your Mix" assorted breakfast box especially geared to departments.

Emergency Notification Test Friday

The monthly test of the outdoor mass notification and indoor voice evacuation systems will occur this Friday, January 9th between 2:15 and 2:30 PM. There will be several activations of the systems during this 15 minute period, each activation approximately 30 seconds long.

A Lesson on Comedy: Professor Discusses Racial Joke Sensitivity

Samuel Perry, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Honors College’s Baylor Interdisciplinary Core program, met with members of the Waco Community to discuss the effects of laughing at culturally and racially sensitive jokes. The meeting was hosted by the Community Race Relations Coalition. “Comedy provides a way to talk about things that remain difficult to understand,” Perry said. He hoped his presentation would help make the community more empathetic about the presence of race relations in humor. Software company Extensis has announced it will host a webcast with Baylor University representatives on Jan. 27 to discuss how Baylor became the sixth most influential university on Instagram and the university’s usage of digital asset management to triple their social media engagement figures. Baylor University Director of Photography Robbie Rogers and Assistant Director of Photography Matthew Minard will share some of Baylor’s solutions for getting high-quality photos and the importance of photography in social media.
